I’ve been going through a battle of sorts lately. I had some problems that in the heat of the moment seemed like fierce fire breathing dragons coming at me. It seemed as if there was no way to be victorious over them and they threatened friendships and had me doubting myself.
These were vicious creatures that were ruthless and wicked. They didn’t seem to care what pain and destruction they caused. Their only goal seemed to create chaos and to destroy everyone in their path.
After many attempts to control these beasts and to smother them I finally realized that they couldn’t live without food. If they didn’t get the food they were after which was my joy, my happiness, my faith, my love for others, and my contentment then they wouldn’t survive. These beasts are formed from jealousy, envy, selfishness and pure evil. They can come from within ourselves or be created by others around us.
The thing is that every dragon starts out as small lizard. They need constant attention and food to survive and grow. Without the attention from the drama they create they would die. Without the food or the energy they get from the pain and suffering they are causing they will slowly starve.
I may not have realized this in the beginning of the mess but I saw it recently. I see that by cutting off the food and attention they are getting weaker and they don’t seem as fierce now. I pray that others that are affected by dragons in their life will also see this and find a way to cut them off at their source.
These lizards and dragons can not survive where there is no drama or choas. If everyone is willing to love unconditionally, generous with everything they have, helping when needed with no thought as to how they can be repaid, and always kind to one another this will create a dragon free sanctuary where we can all be content and live in peace. Sure there will be disappointments and heartaches but if we forgive quickly we can squash those lizards in their tracks.
We all need to be honest with ourselves and see what we can do to keep these lizards at bay before they grow into fierce beasts wanting to devour everyone in their path. Lift one another up in prayer and be there for your friends when they are in need. When someone does you wrong just take it to that person instead of creating a lizard out of it. We need to pray those that we feel have wronged us so that we can better understand where they are coming from and see what we can do to help. We need to model the behaviors that we wish to see in others even when they don’t treat us the same.
If you hear rumors or gossip and you spread them then you are contributing to the growth of these dragons. You may not see or feel the effects of their destruction but eventually you will see when they get so out of hand that it destroys everyone around you.
So please when you hear something instead then take the time to think about it. If it wouldn’t be something that you would want said about you then don’t repeat it. Please don’t feed the lizards!
